NCALL offers a variety of educational housing counseling services to low and moderate income Delawareans who wish to improve their housing conditions. This educational empowerment enables families to take control of their housing future and enjoy the benefits of improved housing and greater financial independence. Our housing counseling covers the continuum of assisting elderly households obtain health and safety repairs, helping rural families by packaging their 502 homeownership mortgage applications, and assisting families to become mortgage-ready for conventional bank community reinvestment mortgages.

In FY 2007 alone, NCALL saw 969 new homeownership education and housing counseling clients. 359 households achieved their housing goals by becoming a first-time homebuyer or obtaining home repairs. This represents 359 individual success stories by families who cleared up credit problems, saved for down payments or security deposits, paid off debts, consolidated bills, instituted family budgeting, learned about their housing options, accessed various down payment and settlement help programs, and utilized subsidized federal and private credit to achieve their housing goals.

To give you an idea of the leveraging impact of NCALL's homeownership counseling, $64,163,907 in attractive CRA and federal 502 mortgages were leveraged in 2007 alone. In July 2007, NCALL celebrated our 6,000th homeowner!
